Historical reference.

The award patch "For a destroyed tank" was introduced on March 9, 1942 to reward the military for destroying a tank with hand weapons in battle. Initially, only one degree of the award was established. Then in December 1943 the 1st degree of the award was introduced, and the original version of the sign was assigned to the 2nd degree.

Criteria for awarding:

  • 2nd degree - for the destruction of one tank (silver ribbon);
  • 1st degree - for the destruction of five tanks (golden ribbon).

Each subsequent sign of the 2nd degree on the sleeve was attached below the previous one, and upon reaching five destroyed tanks, all signs of the 2nd degree were replaced with a sign of the 1st degree.

This award could not be received by military personnel from the anti-tank and tank units of the Wehrmacht.
