Description

Envelope from a letter from the front, sent to the village of Nizhnee Slyadnevo (Moscow region) from a point in the north of present-day Ukraine (Rivne region). The envelope is made of a German military map. The map piece is the original German military map of Russia (Rußland) at a scale of 1:100.000.

The section near the Kolosovka station of the Odessa railway (the current Mykolaiv region of Ukraine) is depicted on the map. In those days, the Germans had not yet found Ukraine on their maps.

The letter was sent, most likely, during the war, as there is a military censorship stamp "ПРОСМОТРЕНО Военной Цензурой 30074" (VIEWED by Military Censorship 30074). The postmark has an illegible date, unfortunately. Receiving post - Novo-Petrovskoye, the nearest large village and station to the recipient's village.

In 1941, N. Slyadnevo was under occupation, there were units of the 10th Panzer Division of the Wehrmacht and, possibly, units of the 2nd SS Division "Reich".

On the envelope there are 2 original USSR postage stamps of 30 kopecks issued in 1939.
