Description

Price for 10 cm (1 decimeter).

Braid (edging, galloon, soutache) is a good copy. The edging is slightly shiny, as it should be. It is made of metallic thread and feels cold to the touch. It is not a cheap copy of lurex (synthetic plastic threads).

We offer 2 colors: silver (officers) and gold (generals). You must select an option (color) before putting it in the basket. If a color is not available for selection, then it has already been sold.

How to sew on?

The edging should be inserted between the parts of the cap and then sewn together. For different headdresses, the edging is sewn in different places. On visor-cap around the bottom, on side-cap around the bottom and in front part of the lapel. See photos of originals in available sources. You can measure how much edging you need with a piece of wire or a rope, applying it to the place of the future edging, and then measuring the total length. Don't forget to add length for the end folding!

Historical reference.

The uniform cap was worn by the military of all ranks of the Wehrmacht and administrative personnel. The caps of the generals were distinguished by a higher quality material, edging from a golden metal cord and a cord above the visor, which was twisted from golden strands and fastened to gilded buttons. Until the end of 1942, the eagle and the wreath of the general's cockade did not differ from the officer's, then they became golden.

The photo shows a peaked-cap of a Wehrmacht general.

Side-caps of various styles and qualities were also worn by military personnel of all ranks, it was officially to be worn in cases where the wearing of a uniform cap or steel helmet was not prescribed.

The officer's 1938 model side-cap differed from the soldier's with a silver edging sewn along the contour of the top and the cutout of the lapel. On the general's cap, the piping was golden.
