Description

The cap badge is embroidered with silver metallic gimp on a cloth of black color. Officers of the Third Reich Air Force (Luftwaffe), including pilots, anti-aircraft gunners, paratroopers, air field units (infantry), and others, wore such a badge on their peaked-cap. Size 14x5 cm.

Usually, on a cap with a cockade worn a similarly made eagle, together they made up a set of signs on a Luftwaffe peaked-cap. There were also metal insignias. Both metal and embroidered insignias for officers peaked-caps were equally common.

How to sew the patch? Attach the patch to the band of the peaked cap so that it sits well. Fasten the patch by pins or stitch it with a thread of noticeable color. Sew the patch by perimeter with small stitches over the edge, use a thread in the color of the backing. Set the needle 2-3 mm from the edge, otherwise the underlay will tear (shag), and the patch will fall off.
