Mountain guide badge

Description

Replica of the Wehrmacht mountain guide badge from World War II. Green enameled metal oval with a white rim, in the center of which is a silver-colored edelweiss with golden stamens. On the white rim the inscription “HEERESBERGFÜHRER” is written in Gothic script.

Historical reference.

The badge was established in August 1926, it was awarded after passing a special certification to those who served as a mountain guide for at least a year. Such certifications with the award of the mark were repeated every year. In this case, the old sign remained with the owner without the obligation to return it. The badge was supposed to be worn on the left breast pocket.
