Historical reference.
Such bakelite container was a part of anti-gas equipment for every soldier of the Third Reich (including gas mask in a metal storage box and impregnated cover in a bag).
There were also bottles with ready-made liquid for weapons cleaning after the gas-attack. Vials made of orange plastic appeared not earlier than 1942.
Dust in the box smells with chlorine badly, so some collectors call these vials "chlorine-boxes".
