Insignia for a SS side-cap or M43 cap of the SS. The eagle is made in the BeVo technique (jacquard). It was sewn on the headdress together with the same skull (made as a separate patch).

This patch is replicated as it was done during the Third Reich (using an "old" machine with punch cards). Modern machines allow to make such patches with a "shaggy" underside, but here, the wrong side has neatly tidied threads. Hence the high price of the patch; it is a copy of the highest level.

How to sew the patch? There are 2 ways.

I. Method for museum copies. Trim the excess along the contour of the insignia with a margin of 5 mm. Tuck these 5 mm under the insignia and iron (you can use glue). Fasten the stripe on the clothes with a few stitches of threads of bright color, so it sits smoothly. Sew the stripe along the contour with small stitches (seam around the edge). Remove the bright thread that fixed the insignia.

II. Way to for reenactment (easier). Remove threads from the inside of the stripe using the scissors or razor to make it thinner. Glue the patch onto thin paper or fabric using tailor's glue or PVA. Dry it using an iron (if the glue is liquid then you should use as little glue as possible, otherwise it can leak on the front side). Cut the patch along the contour with no margin. Fasten the stripe on the clothes with a few stitches of threads of bright color, so it sits smoothly. Sew the stripe along the contour with small stitches (seam around the edge). Remove the bright thread that fixed the insignia.
