Description
A set of Soviet paper money for collection, reenactment displays and showcase decoration. The banknotes shown in the photos are in used condition, with folds, wear, stains and visible traces of circulation.
The set includes several denominations: 1 Soviet ruble, 3 Soviet rubles, 5 Soviet rubles 1991, 10 Soviet rubles 1961, 25 Soviet rubles 1961.
The banknotes have different sizes. The larger Soviet 10 and 25 ruble notes are approximately 12.2 × 6.1 cm, and the smaller denominations are approximately 10.5-11.4 × 5.3-5.7 cm. The lot is sold as one set, condition as shown in the photos.
Inscriptions visible on the banknotes: one ruble, USSR, State Treasury Note of the USSR, three rubles, five rubles, State Bank of the USSR banknote, 1991, ten rubles, 1961, twenty five rubles, banknotes are backed by gold precious metals and other assets of the State Bank, counterfeiting State Bank of the USSR notes is punishable by law.
Historical reference.
The 1961 series of Soviet paper money appeared after the Soviet monetary reform and remained everyday cash for almost three decades. Smaller denominations such as 1, 3 and 5 rubles were issued as State Treasury Notes, while larger 10 and 25 ruble denominations were State Bank of the USSR notes.
In 1991, during the final period of Soviet monetary changes, new State Bank of the USSR notes appeared, including the 5 ruble 1991 note. Banknotes like these are inexpensive original period items for collections, props and historical displays.
