Historical reference.
The Crimean Shield was established in Germany on July 25, 1942, emphasizing the importance of the seizure of Crimea and the special severity of the battles in which the awardees participated. The ferocity and integrity of the fighting on the Crimean Peninsula is also characterized by the fact that the medal "For the Defense of Sevastopol" was introduced from the Soviet side.
