Description

Universal backpack of the Soviet soldier.  Materials: cotton tent fabric, steel buckle, wooden boss. In empty form it takes up very little space, unlike any backpack.

Original army bags produced after the war. All bags are used, but they were used a few times, they look like new. We have 2 varieties:
1) grade 1: the bag is practically new, minor spots or dirt may be present. Most of bags has an inkmark of the manufacturer.
2) grade 2: the same, but there is a soldier’s name written with a ballpoint pen (sometimes in white paint) and/or there are spots or faded areas or it may have a tiny tear.

An example of the 2nd grade bag is in the photo below:

Historical reference.

The word "sidor" call things that men collect when go to jail: a basic kit. At the heart of the design is a very old and reliable principle of tightening the neck straps. Such bags were used in the Crimean war and is used to present days (only the details change). Before the war it was officially replaced with the rucksack (mod. 1939), but remains popular due to simple and robust design.

It is possible to lose something from the Sidor only if it broke; but the untied bag falls down at once from shoulders.
