Description
Reproduction lightweight German Y-straps: the officer pattern, also known as LfW (Luftwaffe). Narrow leather shoulder straps support the waist belt and distribute the weight of equipment across the shoulders.
All hardware is original aluminium. The leather components are newly made: this is a reproduction harness fitted with authentic metal hardware. The outside of the leather is black, while the inside retains a natural light colour. The edges are neatly finished and the straps are adjustable.
A very rare, exceptionally well-made reproduction that is definitely worth its price. Quality leather, careful assembly and original aluminium hardware make it particularly suitable for historical reenactment.
The harness and its hardware are included. The waist belt, pouches, uniform and other items shown in the photographs are for display only and are not included.
Historical reference.
Lightweight German Y-straps developed from support straps for ammunition pouches. Compared with infantry equipment, they had narrower straps and no leather pad beneath the joining ring; examples used either light-metal or steel hardware. The surviving example documented on MP44 is marked FR. OFFERMANN & SÖHNE, BENSBERG and dated 1941.
