Historical reference.

German ribbon bars (Feldspange, Bandspange) combined miniature ribbons for several awards. During World War II, ribbons for First World War decorations could appear alongside later awards. Surviving examples in museum collections include combinations of the Iron Cross 2nd Class 1914, the Cross of Honour with Swords and awards from 1939–1945.
