Description
The Demyansk Shield is an award, a memorial sign of Nazi Germany. Previously, batches of the shield were made of zinc with a silver coating (later, in order to save money, they were made entirely of zinc). The badge was worn only on the uniform in the upper part of the left sleeve above the insignia of military personnel. Dimensions are 90 x 51 mm.
You buy a shield (insignia), a metal strap for attaching to a uniform. The shield is attached to the uniform without a backing.

Historical reference.
The Demjansk Shield was approved on April 25, 1943. The introduction of the badge emphasized the resilience of the Wehrmacht and SS soldiers who fought in the Demjansk pocket. To receive the shield, it was necessary to fight there between February 8 and April 21, 1942. The encircled group was led by Walter Brockdorff-Ahlefeld. Source: wikipedia.org
