Dark red ribbon with black and silver stripes in the center. The right shade of red! Width 30 mm. You can take any lenght. Price is for 10 cm (1 decimeter or 4 inches).

The ribbon length of 10 cm is enough to sew it in the buttonhole of the field jacket, but very modestly. You can take more to have a reserve.

The ribbon has moire. Moire is the shimmering (glitter) on the ribbon. Moire ribbon looks very nice.

Historical reference.

The medal "For the Winter Campaign to the East" or "Eastern Medal" (Winterschlacht im Osten) was established on May 26, 1942. Participants in the battles on the Soviet-German front in the winter of 1941-1942 were awarded according to one of the following criteria:

  • Participation in battles for at least 14 days, and flights within 30 days for the Luftwaffe;
  • Injury or frostbite sufficient to award the wound badge;
  • Fortitude in other continuous battles is 60 days or more.

The soldiers nicknamed the medal "frozen meat" (Gefrierfleischorden) because of the numerous cases of frostbite on the eastern front in the winter of 1941-1942, for which this medal was awarded, and for the characteristic dark red color of the ribbon (not scarlet).

The ribbon of the medal was worn in (the second from above) buttonhole. To wear the medal completely in the field was uncomfortable. The shade of ribbons differs on medals from different manufacturers and can be lighter or darker.
