Historical reference.
Close Combat Clasp was established on November 25, 1942, and was awarded to soldiers for numerous battles in close contact with the enemy. The proximity of the battle was determined by the fact whether the soldier saw the whites of the enemy's eyes during the fight. This badge has higher award criteria than the "Infantry Assault Badge".
The sign had three classes, which were distinguished by the color of the metal:
- Bronze - 15 days in hand-to-hand combat actions.
- Silver - 30 days in hand-to-hand combat actions.
- Golden - 50 days in hand-to-hand combat actions.
Close Combat Clasp was worn 1 cm above the left breast pocket above all other awards (this emphasized its high degree of significance). After receiving the badges of a higher degree, soldiers wore only the highest, although the lower classes of the award remained with the soldier.
