Metal Edelweiss for officer's peaked cap

Description

A very rare accessory: the metal badge of mountain troops (Heer and SS) Edelweiss for officers' peaked-caps. A copy of very high quality!

The flower for the caps had no stalk and was attached on a peaked-cap between the eagle and the cockade. The diameter is 2,5 cm. Made of two parts (gilded center). Fastened with metal paws.

Mountain troops were elite units, their training took a lot of time and labor. In addition to the unique elements of uniforms (caps, shoes, pants made of special material), they wore signs with the image of a mountain flower Edelweiss on the uniform.
