The cap of the 1934 model with insignia set of the 1940 model (against the background of the feldgrau)is the main headdress of a German soldier. Feldgrau cloth, beige cotton lining. The metal edging of the fan hole is black.

The insignias are sewn: an eagle and a cockade, as well as the edging of the color of the armed forces (infantry, white) in a triangle above the cockade. The triangle is not difficult to remove if it is not needed (it was canceled during the war).

Historical reference.

A cap of various styles and qualities was worn by military personnel of all ranks of the armed forces of the Third Reich. The wearing of an eagle with a swastika on uniform items in the German armed forces began on February 17, 1934, by order of the Minister of Defense, General Blomberg. The first cap of the Wehrmacht was introduced in March 1935, which was similar to the cap of the Reichswehr model of 1934, also a woven fieldgrau emblem is sewn onto the cap, instead of a metal reich cockade. Since 1937, a woven reich cockade has been sewn on.

The type of troops in the German army was traditionally designated by the colors of collar tabs and edging of shoulder straps, uniforms and hats, sewing on shoulder straps and other colored details. A tricolor cockade was embroidered in front, above which was an imperial eagle. The officer's cap differed from the caps of privates and non-commissioned officers in a higher quality of cloth and a silvery aluminum edging, sewn along the contour of the bottom and the cutout of the lapel.

At different times, the design of headdresses with insignias changed slightly. Since 1942, with the need to reduce the cost of mass production, headgear began to be simplified and unified for different units. Gradually canceled the stripe of the corner according to the color of the type of troops. Also, an order was issued requiring the removal of the soutache (the colored corner above the cockade) from all caps that were already in use. Later, stop sewing on the silver officer edging. Even later, the ventilation holes were canceled and the lapels were reduced. By the end of the war, caps began to be sewn from a fabric close in color to khaki; the eagle was embroidered with dull gray-beige silk on a substrate in the color of the entire cap.
